The Tier 7 Medium Tier List (9.22)

Yo guys,

This is the tier 7 medium tank tier list, with explanations for each tank on the bottom. I chose this tier since I've played many of these tanks, and really enjoyed their diverse playstyles, though some felt stronger than others. Here's my take on which are the best overall, tier for tier.

Explanations:

The T-34-2 has potential, but needs buffs.

T-34-2, T-34-2, T-34-2.

I kept the T-34-1, which was an extremely enjoyable tank for me, so I had high hopes for the T-34-2 since they look so similar. But I'll admit it. This tank is really bad. Being tier 8, it's right in the purgatory tier of medium tanks that everyone wants to pass quickly so they can get the tier 9 mediums. As for the T-34-2, although having huge alpha damage on a small, sneaky tank is fun, the literally worst in class accuracy and DPM runs the tank's damage output into the ground.

But out of all the games I have played so far in the tank, I've actually had quite a few games where the tank could be really fun. I like the idea of the ambushing, opportunistic playstyle that it (almost) fits into, and each 122mm round that I did manage to put into an enemy felt really, really satisfying. It is not a tank that can carry a game, and there are plenty of times where everything goes terribly wrong, with every shot flying into the dirt or a random tier 10 medium tank that decides to rush right at you. Somehow, though, I still feel motivated to play the tank, just for those great moments where the tank can work, and work beautifully as a scout, as sideline support, as an ambusher. As of now, I have played 130 games in it and just recently earned my second MOE. But still, despite all that, it is unquestionably underpowered.

Tanks.gg has a new beta website!

LINK: It's available for public viewing at beta.tanks.gg.

Yo guys,

If you don't know about it already, Tanks.gg (this is the link to the old version) is a well-known resource website for WoT players with 3D armor models of tanks, tank stats, tank comparison, etc.

Now, the author has released a beta version of the website, with a fresh new interface, improved navigation, cleaner tank comparison, a search bar, and more.

It also has the 9.17.1 test server data, including new HD armor models for tanks, balance changes, and the new Maus line.

I've checked it out briefly and like it a lot already. Shoutouts to kittenses on the NA server, who runs and updates the website.

Have a good day,
-The_Ghghp

T28 Concept Get!

After weeks of grinding the LT missions with the Bulldog and RU 251, finally did it! Finished LT-15 with the secondary condition of surviving the battle, and got the T28 Concept!

The beast in all its glory:

VK 30.02D post-buff seems very viable

The 9.17.1 full patchnotes are out here: https://ritastatusreport.live/2017/01/27/9-17-1-complete-list-of-changes/. In addition to the new Maus line, a ton of underpowered German tanks are finally getting buffed.

Skoda T25 - One close game, one steamroll

Yo guys, it's been a minute.

I'm back, with double gameplay of the Skoda T25 today: 2 games that I actually played back to back in real time. This is also my first attempt at doing some editing, so this video won't just be raw footage. Check it out!

The first game is a close fight in Overlord, with a pretty ridiculous arty nest in the end.

The second game a typical smash and grab in Lakeville where my team successfully defended our base after crushing the city.

Have a great day!

Buffs that should be given to these two premiums

[UPDATE] WG listened, and are buffing both of these tanks in 9.17.1!
https://ritastatusreport.live/2017/01/27/9-17-1-complete-list-of-changes/

Looks like they're taking the path of buffing the T-34-85M's gun to match the T-34-85's. Not my first choice for a buff, but whatever. As long as WG keeps the current stats of the the tank being slower and having worse gun handling than the T-34-85, I'm fine with it; heck, I might actually get it now.

Good news for Pz IV S owners, the buffs are very similar to the ones that I proposed in my post. Check out the link for full details. Cheers, WG!

Sup guys,

The_Ghghp here with my opinion on how the T-34-85M and Pz. IV Schmalturm should be buffed to become competitive with the current tier 6 premium mediums that are offered in-game.

The Pz IV S. was phased out of the shop, and the T-34-85M only offered for a limited time.

However, with the new tankrewards.com missions that WG NA is offering for the rest of January and February, you have the option to be rewarded with one of the following for earning 45 points or more:
  • T-34-85M
  • Strv m/42-57
  • Škoda T40
  • Standard supply crate

Right now, the T-34-85M and Pz IV S are tanks with almost nothing going for them. Meanwhile, other premium mediums like the Škoda T40 and Strv m/42-57 are both designed so that they have some outstanding and novel characteristic, such as the 4 round autoloader on the Strv.

So why not apply the method of making premium tanks unique to buff the T-34-85M and Pz IV S?

SU-122-44 Pulls In 5k+ Damage, TD-15 for the T28 HTC finally finished!

Hey guys,

The_Ghghp here with a replay of the battle where I finally finished the TD-15 personal mission for the T28 HTC. With my highest tier TD only being tier 7, something special had to happen. Getting a top tier matchup on an open map? That'd do it. Enjoy my highest damage game of all time in the SU-122-44.

Here are the post-game screenshots:

KV-13 Top Tier Ace Tanker Gameplay, Erlenberg

Happy New Year 2017 guys!

The_Ghghp here with some gameplay footage of the KV-13 driving while top tier. I didn't do a whole lot of teamwork with my platoonmates genghe and TAHKU, but had a really awesome Ace Tanker game all the same. Enjoy!

Skoda T24 - Deadly Guerilla

Yo,

The_Ghghp here with a review on the Skoda T24. This time I've also included one of my replays on YouTube in the Playstyle section.

Full Stats

Initially, when I got this tank, I thought it would be a piece of total [edited] like most tier 5 medium tanks. But when my average damage in it started surpassing even my T-34, I knew something was up. So it turns out that while this tank certainly doesn't have the raw DPM that the T-34 offers, it has a lot of handy features at its disposal that definitely make up for it. I ground through to the Skoda T25 in just 49 battles, and have decided to keep the tank for now. Its playstyle is somewhat unique - I feel like it's unlike any other tank in its tech tree line. Nevertheless, it really feels rewarding when played right.

New PB for getting 2 MOEs in a tank!

Yo guys, The_Ghghp here with a quick update. I just got 2 MOEs in the KV-13 in only 68 games!

Check out the forum post for screenies and stuff:

The Holiday Ops in WoT is releasing crazy gold discounts at December 30th!

[Update] So apparently WG's own legal doc has incorrect information. This is the situation.

Source: http://legal.na.wargaming.net/en/holiday-ops-campaign-rules-wot/

I got this raw data about all the upcoming premium shop deals for "decoration boxes". Notable boxes include the ones that give you a specific lvl 5 decoration and 1875 gold for $5. This rate of exchange is 375 gold for $1. That is the best money-to-gold exchange rate I've ever seen. On top of that, the boxes give you a "decent" chance to win a Pzkpfw B2 or 1000 more gold or 30 days of prem. You also get a small chance to win the recently buffed M46 Patton KR. So if you're planning to spend $5 or more on the holiday boxes, please wait for December 30th. The deals are way better (unless you only want decorations).

Purchase Page (the $5 bundles are available December 30th): https://na.wargaming.net/shop/2017/

And here is the raw paste data for all the upcoming bundles. The deals I mentioned include the tree topper bundle, and the individual decorations (camo, side decor, turret, front decor) for the snowitzer. They will be highlighted.

T-54 First Prototype vs Tier 10 on Paris

What's up guys,

I'm here with a pretty interesting replay for you guys today. A lot of people criticize the T-54 Mod 1 for its underperformance in unfavorable matchups. As a consequence, you don't see many around in random battles anymore.

However, as long as you know your limits and know what opportunities to look for and where to go, any darn tank can still produce a respectable result. In fact, even though I'm still pretty unfamiliar with the Paris map, I managed to have a pretty close, but fun game in this tier 10 match.

Type 58 isn't all that bad

Yo,

The_Ghghp here with another tank review for you guys.

Full Stats

I've already played the T-34-85 the Type 58. So, I'd have a pretty painful grind to the IS-2 right? Actually, I surprised myself. Although they look so similar, the Type 58 doesn't feel like a direct downgrade from the T-34-85; it feels like an entirely different tank. It seems that it has its own unique playstyle that needs adjusting to in order to reach its highest potential. Also, playing the tank is a good way to tell if the Chinese medium tank line is right for your playstyle or not.

Type 58 vs T-34-85 stats

So what's so special about this "clone"?

Tier 8 Strongholds and CW Tank Reviews

Hey guys,

The_Ghghp here, back with a new guide for y'all to digest. It's been a decently long break from my previous post, but for good reason. I promise that today's guide will keep you busy for a while.

Today I'll be talking in-depth about the different choices of tier 8 tanks for strongholds. Though some tanks are clearly more effective than others, the key of success is not always limited to the IS-3 and T-54 Lightweight. In fact, the ability to adapt and tweak team composition as needed to tailor a specific strategy and caller is absolutely crucial. This guide will go over a selection of tier 8 tanks, and what roles in battles they can serve.

The tanks I reviewed are arranged into their classes. Each class will be provided with a description of their roles and effectiveness in battle. Each tank has a short explanation of why this tank is viable, and how and where they are effective. I left out tanks that are generally never chosen for competitive strongholds/CW, in my experience and opinion. There is no single "best" lineup or even tank choice, as each player (and battle caller) has their own preference, experience, and results, so don't take my opinions as a final word.

KV-13: A Bit of Everything

Hey tankers, this post is a full review of the Soviet tier 7 medium tank, the KV-13.

It's easy to overlook the KV-13, since you do not have to play this tank to get any other tank in the game, it being a unique "transition" tank between the USSR heavy tank line and the USSR medium tank line.

So does that mean that you should overlook it? Aren't all tier 7 mediums mediocre in general? Why should you bother to get this tank?

The KV-13, in my opinion, is the T-54 of tier 7.

→ Check the stats here ←

The downsides of the tank are quite similar to the T-54. Poor gun depression at -5 degrees, and poor penetration. Other than that though, the tank has very few glaring downsides. Although its IS-like armor appears to be its most immediate strength compared to peers, the KV-13 actually offers quite more than just that.

The M41 Bulldog, In-depth [OUTDATED]

Hi guys,

Sorry I haven't been able to update my blog as much as before, but I was busy with schoolwork and didn't have a lot of free time. However, ever since I picked up WoT again, and Thanksgiving holiday is coming near, I think I can write up another review for now.

Today's tank review will be on the M41 Walker Bulldog:

Full Stats

So I reached this tier 7 American light tank with very high expectations. 1500 potential clip damage? 175mm pen APCR standard rounds? 8 degrees of gun depression? 400m view range? 72km top speed and 56 degrees traverse? 22.86 hp/t ratio but terrain resistance values of a T-62A? In short, it sounded absolutely crazy fun to me and I was full of hype after I got it to its top configuration.

But I discovered several things about this tank.

AMX ELC bis Review [OUTDATED]

Hi again guys,

Today's review is on the AMX ELC bis, formerly known (before its HD model) as the ELC AMX.

Full Stats

This is the tier 5 French light tank, and the line's playstyle changes dramatically with it. Previously, the tanks like the AMX 38 and 40 had very weak guns with poor DPM, poor penetration, and poor accuracy, despite having strong armor. The ELC's armor is so weak that even most HE shells penetrate easily, but its gun gets a nice upgrade. In fact it has the same alpha damage and penetration values of the AMX 13 90, a tier 8 light tank. This raw power is balanced by a rate of fire of only 5, resulting in a base DPM of 1200. The gun also has a long aim time of 2.9 seconds, worsened by poor gun handling, a turret that can only turn 15 degrees to either side, a rear mounted turret, and 5 degrees of gun depression. Nevertheless, the raw alpha and penetration of the gun makes it the perfect tool for seizing brief opportunities of firing at an enemy tank.

ARL 44 Review

Hi again guys, here's my new review:

Full Stats

Although I've had a rough start in it, the ARL 44 is quickly becoming one of my favorite heavy tanks. I've heard, of course, either very good or very bad things about it. Nothing much in between.  I was intriqued, and since I enjoy tier 6 tanks in general, as well as looking for an alternative choice for tier 6 strongholds, I decided to pick it up.
